The “Cikgu Saarani Tuition Programme” was launched by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad to assist children sitting for their examinations.

The project is aimed to help the needy and underprivileged kids in the “Silver state”.

A sum of RM2.7 million has also been allocated to cater for meals under the programme.

“A total of 35,639 SPM candidates will be given daily lunch for 15 days till Feb 22 at the respective schools canteens.

“Teachers will also give tuition and additional classes for subjects like Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics and History,” said Saarani in a virtual press conference recently.

The Menteri Besar himself was a teacher in the early days of his career.

He added that this is one of the ways to eradicate poverty in the state. The programme will be extended to benefit some 30,320 Form Four students, 31,761 Form One students and 31,742 Year One pupils.

Kudos to the Perak Government and its leadership to “step up” during this Covid-19 pandemic.
