The Ipoh-grown International Ipoh Fashion Week showcase received due recognition from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) recently.

They were awarded the Fashion Week of the Year 2019-2020 (International Category), in a gala ceremony held at the Grand Ion Delemen Hotel, Genting Highlands

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the IIFW 2020 was not held last year due to international borders being closed to-date.

Founder of IIFW, Louis Sebastian and his wife Adeline Khan were elated to receive the award at the glittering ceremony.

“It is indeed a great recognition for the sacrifice and hard work since the first IIFW was held in 2017.

“It is normal that when starting an event in the initial stage, getting the necessary support from the respective sector was lacking. Nevertheless, we had forged ahead with confidence.

“As we all know, we could not hold the IIFW 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are hopeful that it can be hosted in the coming year,”  said Louis to Ipoh Hyperlocal.

He also took the opportunity to thank all those who had helped in organising the premier event, namely family, friends, sponsors, media, government agencies and Perak Tourism to make the previous IIFW editions a success.

During the past shows, designers from Singapore, Indonesia, China, India, Nepal and the Philippines had participated.

Ipoh Hyperlocal takes this opportunity to congratulate the founders of IIFW on receiving this prestigious award.
