The Ipoh City Council became the first local council to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Music Authors’ Copyright Protection (MACP).
The collaboration will ensure that the local council channels namely the RadioTV Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (RTBI) are endorsed by MACP.
Present at the signing ceremony was Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin and local entertainer, M. Nasir representing MACP.
“With this MOU, Ipoh City Council will become an example for others to be mindful of copyright and creative rights of composers, writers and other talents.
“The intellectual copyright is vital so that their livelihood is rewarded,” said Rumaizi.
Among the members of MACP are composers, song writers, lyric writers and music producers whose creative talents are safeguarded.
Commercial use of the works of these talents require MACP approval.
