Ipoh’s car free day was attended by some 5,000 residents over the weekend.
Lending presence was Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin and his team.
With a slogan of “Cleaner, Greener & Smart Lifestyle, the initiative aims to create awareness on taking care of the environment and Mother Earth.
The programme was more timely as it was the first car free day held in the month of August which is also the month of Merdeka.
Among the activities organised were the Family Fun Ride, Fun Run, Fun Walk, Cosplay and a colouring contest.
The occasion also saw the presentation of rubbish bins to 10 schools around the city.
Children from SK Cator Avenue presented their dance performance while a band from SMK Anderson Ipoh also performed.
Other highlights included the march past of 500 pre-school children waving the national flag.
