Due to numerous complaints against the contractor of rubbish collection in Ipoh, the Ipoh City Council has decided to appoint a new firm to carry out rubbish collection for the interim period.
Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin said that failing to collect rubbish may also lead to health problems among residents.
“We understand that the present contractor is facing labour shortage and thus the non collection as per schedule.
“The new company which will start in May and has been tasked to carry out the duties diligently.
“As for the long term, we will take over the collection and in June we will get four new trucks for this purpose,” said Rumaizi.
He also added that in view of the Hari Raya celebration, the load of domestic rubbish eis expected to increase by 15% but collection will go on as usual.
