Soon, the Meru and Klebang areas will be connected by a new main road.
The RM6.4 million project includes construction of a bridge over Sungai Klebang and a four-lane (two-way) road of 1.6 km long.
The proposed road will connect Lebuh Chepor Utama 2 in Meru Perdana (near Meru Raya) with Lebuh Klebang Putra in Klebang.
Work on the project is expected to start in November this year and will last 18 months until April 2023.
The Ipoh City Council (MBI) will be undertaking a joint venture with four development companies.
The companies involved are Ain Bina Development Sdn Bhd, Satin Tiara Sdn Bhd, Scientex Quatari Sdn Bhd and Total Investment Sdn Bhd.
“The road proposed for construction will be able to shorten travelling time to and from Klebang and Meru by 20 minutes.
“The existing main passageway between the two places passing through Chemor is always jammed during peak hours.
“The road will save time for commuters and also spur development activities for areas involved in the construction, particularly towards businesses in Klebang and Meru,” said Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin at the signing of the MOU ceremony.
