A recent press conference for the up-coming International Ipoh Fashion Week (IIFW) 2022 was graced by Perak State Exco for Housing, Local Government and Tourism Dato Nolee Ashilin Muhammed Radzi.
Also present was IIFW founder and chief executive officer, Louis Sebastian and his organising team.
The event is making a comeback after a break due to the Covid-19 pandemic from Oct 20 to 23, 2022 at several venues around the city.
“Fashion and design now play an equally important role in other artistic fields. Fashion shows today have crossed the glamorous ramps and carpets of the popular dress designers. The growing global interest in modest fashion is redesigning the fashion power map and has an important bearing on our economy which contributes to our international standing in the world’s fashion stakes.
“With a two-pronged objective of showcasing Perak/Malaysia-based fashion talent globally and at the same time welcoming the world to the Wonders of Perak/Malaysia, IIFW will help boost tourist arrivals to Malaysia as we showcase our culture, food and popular tourist destinations”. said Nolee in her address.
Meanwhile, Louis expressed his optimism that with the support of the relevant government and private agencies, the event will be a success.
The grand dinner will be graced by Her Royal Highness Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, members of the Perak Royal Family,
The showcase is expected to feature local and international designers and models.
Among the models are from Singapore, Indonesia, the Middle East and of course Malaysia.
The charity gala dinner will be held on Oct 21, 2022 at the Hotel Casuarina @ Meru.
On Oct 22, there will also be a young fashion designers showcase at Jalan Bandar Timah in Oldtown Ipoh and subsequently on Oct 23, there will be the closing ceremony at the Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah too.
Proceeds from the show will also be donated to the Ipoh General Hospital’s paediatric care unit and Perak Foodbank.
