The Ipoh City Council became the first local authority to participate in an exhibition and forum held in conjunction with Makassar International Eight Festival (F8) & Forum at Pantai Losari Makassar, Indonesia which began for five days starting from July 24.
Several countries also took part including Germany, Australia, India, Singapore, Japan and the Philippines.
The event was officiated by Wali Kota Makassar, Mohammad Ramadhan Pomanto.
The council exhibited various products which focused on (3H) concept of Hipster, Health and Heritage.
The council also showcased the city’s products including Ipoh Kacang Putih and Chang Jiang White Coffee.
Products and tourism attractions in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2024 was also promoted.
Apart from the exhibition several other events were also held, among them investment forum, fashion show, music and culture together with various types of food.
The delegation also participated in the investment forum.
Meanwhile the delegation from Ipoh City represented by three councillors, Basri Mohamad Nor, Azmy Mohamed Nazir and Mohammad Hamzah Md Hamdan made a courtesy call on Wali Kota Makassar, Mohammad Ramdhan Pomanto.
Discussions centered on tourism, administration and domestic economy.
It is hoped that the meeting would strengthen the ties between Ipoh and Makassar.
It is an event held since 2016 with the objective to expand Makassar’s eight creative economic sectors including Food and Fruits, Fashion, Fiction Writers, Fine Art, Fusion Music, Film, Folks and Flora Fauna.
