Members of the Hard Rock Cafe Ipoh embarked on a commendable beach cleaning exercise in Pulau Sembilan which is off Lumut and Pangkor Island recently.

The island is a cluster of nine islands renowned for its unique biodiversity and pristine beaches.

Participants worked tirelessly to remove over 2.2 metric tons of trash from the island’s shores and surrounding waters. 

The collected debris included plastic, glass, clothing, aluminum products, and other waste materials that pose a significant threat to the fragile marine ecosystem.

The event, which saw the participation of His Royal Highness Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, His Royal Highness Raja DiHilir Perak, along with approximately 100 volunteers including six representatives from Hard Rock Cafe Ipoh, which is a local business dedicated to environmental sustainability, aimed to raise awareness about the critical importance of preserving this natural treasure.

“Being a part of Pulau Sembilan Conservation Day was an incredible experience for our team at Hard Rock Cafe Ipoh.

“It’s easy to forget how much our actions impact the environment, but seeing firsthand the amount of debris we collected was a real eye-opener.” A collaborative effort between various government agencies, local NGOs, and businesses, the Conservation Day focused on addressing the pressing issue of marine pollution,” shared Mohd Najip Ab’llah, Hard Rock Cafe Ipoh’s Assistant General Manager. .

The event also highlighted the vital role of collaboration in conservation efforts. The Royal Malaysian Navy, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Perak State Forestry Department, and numerous other organizations joined forces to make the cleanup a resounding success.

In addition to the cleanup activities, Pulau Sembilan Conservation Day served as a platform to educate the public about the island’s unique biodiversity and the urgent need for its preservation. 

The participants were also given the opportunity to learn about the diverse marine life that inhabits the area and the threats they face due to pollution and climate change.

For Hard Rock Cafe Ipoh, participating in the cleanup was more than just community service; it was a living embodiment of their “Save the Planet” motto. The team’s dedication to removing over 2.2 tons of debris demonstrated their commitment to environmental stewardship.
