For the first time, a total of 73 Ipoh City Council officers from the Management and Professional Group participated in a walkabout at Jalan Dato Sagor here yesterday, October 4.
The event was officiated by the council’s Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak.
Also present were council’s Senior Director of Finance Department Saidatul Akma Jamaludin and Senior Director of Technical Department Azman Harun.
The walkabout programme is implemented on a schedule time table based on selected locations.
Its not objective is to enhance the understanding, support and empowerment concept of the council and the community to ensure the city is always in line with the ” Ipoh Bestari Sejahtera” slogan.
Apart from keeping the city clean, the event would also forge a close relationship and social interaction among the council’s officers.
Among the activities carried out were painting of the road kerbs, cleaning and clearing of drains, roads, trimming trees and planting of new trees at suitable sites and also gotong royong to clear rubbish.
It is hoped that such programmes will instill in the minds of the public and also create a culture.
