They say old habits die hard, as in the case of a 70-year-old woman who was fond of collecting recycled items that drew the attention of the Ipoh City Council and police for the fourth time.

The house owner had been fined by the court twice in the last four years years for collecting the items in the compound which caused nuisance in the neighbourhood at Jalan Merpati Taman Ipoh.

Recently the council and police had to clear up the items in an operation which lasted for hours.

The senior citizen cooperated with the authorities in clearing up without any incidents.

Three lorries were used to collect theĀ items including plastic, papers, iron, metal, wood and others which amounted to 710kg.

They were sent to the IGB Recycling  Center with the agreement of the council and the owner.

The company also paid the owner for the items based  on the weight.

The woman was advised to contact the company to collect any recycled items in the future and not repeat the actions which cause nuisance and disturbances to the surrounding.

If the problem persists, the council will initiate stern action.
