The soon to be refurbished Art Bloc building which will showcase five main elements – Art, Fashion, Films, Food and Music is expected to be opened in August 2025.
Currently the project is looking for designs that will align with sustainable development principles.
The launching ceremony for the project was officiated by Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud at the council’s building here on Dec 17.
Also present was Councillors Chief Whip Datuk Mazlan Abd Rahman, President of A2Z Charity Organisation Sims Lai, it’s founder Jeff Lai, organisation advisors and President of Branding Association of Malaysia Datin Winnie Loo.
An abandoned building store at the Tasek Industrial Area will be refurbished for the purpose and pave way for commercial development and become an tourist attraction.
Last month the council and organisation signed a MoU.
The restoration and redesign of the Art Bloc project will be awarded through an open tender process.
Rumaizi said local and international architects are encouraged to participate in the project.
“Art Bloc will not only inject cultural beliefs and confidence in Ipoh but pave a way to receive international recognition,” he added.
