Traders at the ongoing Bazaar Ramadan are encouraged to offer Menu Rahmah with food sold at RM5 and below to reduce the living cost of the rakyat during the fasting month.

The Bazaar Ramadan RAHMAH (BRR) is a component under the Program Payung RAHMAH aimed at helping the people to buy goods at a cheap and reasonable price.

Perak Director of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Ministry , Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said:”It is an additional choice in the traders menu to ensure the low income group will be able to get their food for the break of fast.

“Ten locations had been identified to hold the Bazar including in Ipoh, Tambun, Kuala Kangsar, Teluk Intan, Gerik, Taiping, Tapah, Manjung and Parit Buntar,” he told reporters after a walkabout at Bazar Ramadhan at Taman Cempaka on Thursday.

Kamalludin also launched the Bazar Ramadan RAHMAH and Program MYSaveFood@Ramadan.

According to him, each location will hold eight BRR throughout the Ramadan month.

It is expected some 52,000 visitors to the BRR will receive RM20 each through e-wallet TnG to spend at the bazaar.

Only the first 650 visitors will receive the RM20 e-wallet.

The incentive through Retail Digitisation Initiative -ReDi is to ensure small time traders will not be left out of the mainstream and jointly involved in the new digital business model.

Kamalludin also noted traders who offer Menu RAHMAH at BRR will be given a RM100 one off payment incentive.

The Program MYSaveFood is implemented by Pertubuhan Pemuda GEMA Malaysia with the cooperation of the Ministry Perak and Gerakan Pengguna Siswa (GPS) Perak.

It is to reduce food wastage at the bazaar and extras would be given to those in need.

Last year 1,728 kg of food which were not sold were retrieved which proved the initiative had generated social impact and helped the unfortunate to have a meal to break fast.
