
Ipoh residents received much welcome news as several roads will soon be repaired and upgraded.
The move is following the visit by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government YB Nga Kor Ming yesterday at Jalan Medan Ipoh 2.
Present at a walhabout to survey the area was YB Jenny Choi Tsi Jen, state assemblywoman for Canning and Perak Deputy Speaker, YB Howard Lee Chuan How Member of Parliament for Ipoh Timur and Ipoh City Council Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak.
The RM478,028.40 project was approved in 2024. The upgrade will include aligning the roads for better traffic movement.
The council had received numerous complaints on the road regarding potholes, water stagnation and also shortage of parking lots by commuters.
The upgrade includes for 710 metres which will include widening, levelling of the road , overall upgrading and LED street lights.
For this purpose a sum of RM 483,197.80 has been allocated too. There will also be safety features for pedestrians for the city residents.
Another project was also announced for upgrading Jalan Medan Ipoh 6 which includes more parking bays and other upgrading work at a cost of RM 1,374,000.00 and nearby roads namely – Jalan Medan Ipoh Service Road 2, Jalan Medan Ipoh 1, Jalan Medan Ipoh 11, Jalan Medan Ipoh 6 Service Road, Jalan Medan Ipoh 6 Service Road 1 and Lebuh Medan.
