Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran popularly known as MGR, an actor, politician and philanthropist died 38 years ago but his memories linger on especially among his die hard fans.

With this unforgetful yesteryears’ entertainment in movies acted by MGR, Persatuan Kebajikan dan Kebudayaan India Ipoh organised the “Kalaithai Vendraven 12 Innisai Kalai Vizha” show filled with songs and dances taken from movies with MGR acted as hero.

The songs were belted out by Vennila Arts singers while dancers from SSR Dance Academy performed.

The event took place at Perak Culture and Arts Department Auditorium on May 10.

Apart from the entertainment, a Mothers’ Day celebration was also held.

A total of 32 mothers were also honoured for their untiring efforts, commitment and dedication in bringing up their children.

Apart from family responsibilities, the mothers are actively involved in social and community work.

Apart from local community leaders, politicians,several VIPs including MIC Vice President Datuk T.Murugiah, Former Selangor Deputy CPO Datuk S.Sasikala Devi attended the concert.

Also present were Founder and Chairman of MGR Charitable Trust, Dr J. Rajesh, actor Chaams and actress Madhumitha who also demonstrated their acting skills.

Rajesh in his speech said he was surprised to see people in Malaysia celebrating the legendary actor’s 108th birthday celebrations.

Donors and sponsors were also honoured.

Murugiah in his address thanked all involved in making the event a success.

He also referred to the organising chairman P. Palaiya as “Perak MGR” who worked hard to ensure the annual event is organised and also his involvement in other charitable work.
