Some 3,000 residents participated in the Ipoh Low Carbon Day (ILCD), the 79th in the series with an attraction of EV Proton Cars at the exhibition booth at Persiaran Bandaraya here on May 25.
A total of five e-MAS7 electric cars were on display for the public to view.
Proton is in the process of launching the cars.
This time ILCD was held with the theme “World No Tobacco Day” with the aim to encourage the community to practice healthy and active living style.
A five kilometre charity run, Super Hero Fun Run @ Ipoh Low Carbon Day was also organised by MBI with the cooperation of Persatuan Kebajikan Kanser Kanak-Kanak KAMI ENDAH (PEkA) Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in conjunction with World Children Cancer Awareness Campaign.
It is also to create awareness and enhance knowledge and information on cancer affecting children besides raising funds to assist the families of patients who face difficulties while receiving treatment.
Some 2,000 people from all walks of life took part in the run.
The event served as a platform to foster relationships between patients and caring staff together with the community.
An exhibition booth was set up by PEkA to offer advice on cancer among children and early warning signs.
Some of the participants went home with lucky draw prizes as an appreciation for their participation.
The run was flagged off by Ipoh City Council councillor Datuk Ahmad Hariri Kamaruddin who is also the council’s Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Sub Committee Chairman with Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun Director Dr Saiful Azlan Sharif.
It is hoped the event would assist the council to realise it’s vision of a Smart and Prosperous City.
