The Ipoh City Council honoured 71 retirees at the retirement appreciation ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom, Level 4, Ipoh Convention Centre.
The ceremony was officiated by Tuan Zamakhshari Hanipah, Mayor of Ipoh, as a gesture of appreciation and recognition for the dedication, loyalty and sacrifices of MBI employees who have concluded their official service.
This year’s Jasamu Dikenang programme honoured a total of 71 recipients, comprising 52 mandatory retirees, 10 optional retirees and nine retirees who had passed away.
In his speech, the Mayor of Ipoh expressed his highest appreciation to all retirees for their invaluable contributions in strengthening MBI as a local authority that continues to serve the people of the city.
He said that every public facility maintained, complaint resolved, policy implemented and service delivered to the community bears the imprint of the dedication of the officers and staff who had served the organisation. The Mayor also paid tribute to retirees who had passed away and conveyed his appreciation to their family members who attended on their behalf.

He noted that throughout their years of service, the retirees had left behind not only completed files, records and assignments, but also knowledge, experience, discipline, integrity and professionalism that would continue to guide future generations.
The Mayor also described retirement not as the end of one’s journey, but as the beginning of a new chapter—one that allows retirees to devote more time to their health, families, spiritual pursuits, friendships and personal interests that may have been set aside during their careers.
According to him, the retirees’ knowledge, experience and wisdom remain valuable assets that can continue to benefit society through community service, residents’ associations, charitable organisations, religious activities, writing, small businesses or any other form of contribution according to their individual abilities.
