Pantai Hospital Ipoh in collaboration with Lions Club of Perak Silver State (LCPSS) contributed 13 used beds which are still functional to three organizations which can assist those in need.
The organisations are St John Ambulance Taiping (five units), Cozy Cottage Aged Care Centre Ipoh (five units) and Rukun Tetangga Jelapang with three units.
This is part of the hospital’s CSR project contributing the beds worth RM40,000 through the upgrade of the hospital facilities.
LCPSS Service Chairperson cum District308B2 Chairperson for Environment Dr Richard Ng said:”This effort helps to repurpose the beds which would otherwise end up at the landfills.
“Besides contributing to the Sustainable Environment, this project also contributes towards humanitarian efforts providing beds to the needy,” he added.
A handover ceremony was held at the hospital on Sept 7.
Hospital’s CEO Tan Kean Hin presented five units to St John Ambulance Taiping Commander Michael Low, witnessed by Ng.
Also present were chairman of Jelapang Rukun Tetangga Chairman S.Thinakaran, Cozy Cottage Aged Care Centre was represented by its Administrator, Julie Yew.
The two organisations would receive the beds at a later date. This is the second time in two years, the hospital is collaborating with LCPSS through the efforts of Ng who is also Chairman of the Hospital’s Board of Visitors.
Not forgetting the importance of education,the hospital had contributed used PC which was distributed by LCPSS to SK Raja Chulan Ipoh, SJK Methodist Tanjung Rambutan and SJK (C) Chung Hwa ,Parit
