Some 320 people converged to Sri Subramaniar Temple Hall at Gunung Cheroh here to celebrate Onam in a colourful event of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage recently.
It also brought together members of the Malayalee community, guests and well wishers.
The attendees were entertained to traditional music,cultural performances and a sumptuous Onam Sadhya which included 14 traditional dishes.
The gathering kicked off with a performance by the Sree Muthappan Chenda Melam Group to welcome the guests and set the tone to celebrate.
The cultural programme featured traditional dances, songs, a flute recital and a Malayalam poetry presentation by a student from Perak Malayalee Association’s (PMA) Malayalam class.
It was coordinated by Shobhna Manivannan with Sulochini Nair and Sharveen Elango as emcees.
PMA President Sarala Govindan Nair thanked all those involved for efforts and valuable contributions to make the event a success.
It reaffirmed PMA’s commitment to bring the community together while preserving and promoting Kerala’s rich cultural traditions.
Also present were Buntong Assemblywoman Thulsi Manogaran , All Malaysia Malayalee Association (AMMA) Datin Sri Shaila V. and AMMA CWC and Koperasi Malaysia Malayalee Board member Dr Naresh Kumar Rajan.
