In line with it’s vision to achieve the “smart city” status, Ipoh is forging ahead to ensure Ipoh becomes a smart city by 2030.
The Ipoh City Council has joined forces with relevant parties to make this vision a reality.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad congratulated the parties involved in striking the strategic partnership to make this dream a reality soon.
To seal the commitment, the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony was held at Kinta Riverfront Hotel here.
“The Smart City status for Ipoh will ensure more quality living standards for the residents here in line with other major cities in the country.
“The advances will include the “Internet of Thing” (IoT), Big Data, Sensor, Artificial Intelligence, Geography system information, (GIS) and robotics.
“With this advancement, Ipoh can be on par with cities like Singapore, Seoul, Shanghai, London, New York, dan Boston, ” said Saarani in his opening address.
In another development, solar panels will also be put up at the UTC building in the city. It will be the first UTC in the country to have solar panels to generate power.
Ipoh mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin disclosed that the Ipoh City Council will save around RM2.5 million throughout the 21-year contract term.
The MOO signing ceremony was represented by TNB, Sultan Azlan Shah University and Sunway City Sdn Bhd.
Also present at the ceremony was Sunway Group founder and chairman, Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah and State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Transportation and Tourism Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamad Radzi
