Nineteen cleaning and landscape workers at the Perak State Secretariat building received Deepavali goodies and cash aid from the Chairman of Human Resources, Health, National integration and Indian Community Affairs Committee Chairman A. Sivanesan here on October 25.
They were given food boxes and cash for Deepavali celebrations. Some of them took the opportunity to raise the issue of salaries.
According to them, a new contractor will take over the project.
They are worried about whether they will receive the new minimum wages starting in February as announced by the Government after the new employer comes in.
Sivanesan told them, the new minimum wage must be implemented according to the law.
The workers do not have a platform to voice their grievances
“I will assist them to overcome the problems and other issues,” he added.
