Ipoh’s Bonanza Educare Sdn Bhd (BE) has entered into a partnership with Wawasan Open University (WOU) to boost cooperation between both education groups.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked today, BE and WOU will cooperate and collaborate in realising five areas including internship opportunities, industrial training and graduate training for WOU students to strengthen their knowledge, practical and industrial skills, at schools and learning spaces operated by BE.
The MoU also paves way for the recruitment of suitable candidates from WOU at BE schools and learning spaces upon their graduation while WOU will offer its programmes of study to employees of BE and their immediate family members.
Both education groups are also seeking to collaborate on projects and activities including talks, seminars, webinars, forums, presentations and other activities; and will also cooperate on joint research and development projects and applications for joint research funding.
Signing on behalf of BE was its Chairman and Director, Dato’ Lim Si Boon while WOU was represented by its Chief Executive and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Lily Chan.
Witnessing the signing ceremony held on 1 March at 1Lasam, the Ipoh headquarters of Bonanza Venture Holdings (BVH) of which BE is a subsidiary, were BE Director Edwin Tan Beow Aik and WOU Regional Operations & Marketing Director Chong Kong Hoong.
Prof Dr Lily Chan said: “We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Bonanza Educare to create educational and employment opportunities that will be mutually beneficial for both parties. Our students will potentially benefit from the internship, training and employment opportunities offered at BE.”
“Through this collaboration, WOU’s pool of experts will share its expertise and knowledge in various areas such as business, science and technology. The University delivers a range of programmes that is accessible via open distance learning. We welcome the BE family to take advantage of the flexible and digital learning platforms available at WOU,” she added.
The BE team are pioneers of International and Malaysian National education in Malaysia, with more than 60 years of ‘education heritage’ in the country. The team developed the largest international and private schools group in Malaysia, Tenby Schools, before selling Tenby Educare in 2016.
Bonanza Educare group of schools and learning spaces across Malaysia include international schools – Knewton Global Schools in Miri, Rawang and Ipoh; language learning centre – Ipoh Learning & Training Institute (ILTI) in Ipoh; language and tuition centre – Language Labz in Seremban; and preschool and kindergarten, Kinder Labz, in Ipoh, Chemor and Seri Kembangan.
