In conjunction with the up-coming Chinese New Year and the Year of the Dragon celebrations, the Ipoh City Council will host a musical show at the Taman DR Seenivasagam.
The grand event will be held on Feb 8, 2024 from 8.08pm where some 8,000 people are expected to gather.
Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin held a press conference at the amphitheatre to announce the new developments.
Also present was Councillor Wong Kar Keat, Normala Latiff, Director of Community, Ir Ts. Arif Mohd Zainudin, Director of Works and Buildings.
The amphitheatre was completed in March 2023 to serve the needs of the local community and bring more activities to the city and is in line with UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
It can accommodate around 800 spectators at any one time. The venue is well suited for local and foreign musical and cultural programmes.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture had allocated RM250,000 to upgrade the facility.
Another RM500,000 is expected to be allocated by the Federal Government while the Ipoh City Council will top up another RM250,000.
The additional funds will make the amphitheatre a top-class facility in the state.
The idea for the CNY concert was mooted by the Minister of Housing and Local Government, YB Nga Kor Ming.
Other activities like Dragon and Lion dance, performances, food trucks, orchestra performance and fireworks display will be among the highlights.
So, make sure to turn up on Feb 8, 2024 to enjoy the grand show.
