An early Chinese New Year celebration was held at Lorong Seni@Lorong Panglima bringing life to the area on January 25.
It was organised by Ipoh City Council’s Community Services Department which was officiated by councillor Datuk Ahmad Hariri Kamarudin who is also the council’s Tourism,Arts Culture and Heritage sub committee chairman.
Others who attended were councillors, heads of departments and staff members.
The celebration is aimed at providing an opportunity to the residents to know the tradition and culture of the various races while celebrating festivals of the different communities in the country.
The public were entertained to several activities among them lion dance, drum performance from Persatuan Sukan dan Kebudayaan Ma Ching Ipoh and cultural show from the council’s Warisan Budaya.
There were also stalls selling handicrafts from local makers.
It is hoped that the program will strengthen the understanding of residents towards the culture of the Chinese community in celebrating the festival.
