The Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) has established its first Training and Community Development Centre in Tapah, Perak.
The centre aims to support and benefit the local community through a wide range of learning, development, and socioeconomic initiatives.
These include upskilling and reskilling programmes across a broad range of areas that are geared at boosting the marketability and employability of community members.
During the launch of the centre, HRD Corp also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the SME Association of Malaysia to develop upskilling and reskilling programmes in Smart Farming Technologies for the Orang Asli community.
Present was the Minister of Human Resources, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan and his team members.
“The establishment of the Training and Community Development Centre here in Tapah is another effort by the government to empower local communities while raising the bar for Malaysia’s human capital development efforts.
“The Ministry of Human Resources and HRD Corp have introduced many programmes to support the communities in Tapah for the last two years and we are proud to strengthen our efforts through the Training and Community Development Centre.
“I strongly believe that no one should be left behind in Malaysia’s goal to become a developed nation. By supporting our local communities in Tapah to improve their standard of living through training, employment and income generation opportunities, we ensure that they too can become productive members of society who can contribute to nation-building.” said Saravanan.
Meanwhile, the centre will also assist community members in preparing for admission to higher education institutions, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and National Dual Training System (SLDN) programmes.
Managed by a total of 10 HRD Corp employees comprising local champions from various Orang Asli tribes, the training centre will also focus on improving the community’s standard of living through needs and skill gaps identification research and analysis.
Findings from the study will be used to roll out viable and sustainable needs-based programmes.
Located at Pusat Perniagaan Akasia 2, Tapah, Perak, the Training and Community Development Centre will start operating on November 1, 2022.
