The Ipoh City Council has come out with a stern warning to those who carry out illegal rubbish dumping which has become a nuisance for other city dwellers.
There have been 1,596 cases of this kind of illegal dumping either big or small quantity around the perimeters of the city till November 2021.
“The illegal dumping normally takes place around housing areas, open areas or roadsides.
“One such incident was at Hala Pegoh 22, Taman Pinji Mewah where the Ipoh City Council workers carried out a cleaning project.
“There are some irresponsible people who still resort to this kind of illegal dumping,” said Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin in a press statement.
He added that this illegal dumping has caused discomfort and nuisance to the residents nearby. Among the common items discarded are food and drinks which can bring diseases and other contamination. They can also become a place for breeding of mosquitoes.
“We will not hesitate to compound these illegal dumping culprits with a hefty RM2,000 fine. I call upon all citizens to protect the greenery and environment of the city.
“The council’s anti litter unit will do its rounds to curb these activities,” said Dato Rumaizi.
