The Ipoh City Council (MBI) strengthened its strategic cooperation with the corporate sector through a meeting with MBI and Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK) held on July 11.

The meeting was chaired by Ipoh City Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah and attended by Perak State Assembly Deputy Speaker Jenny Choy Tsi Jen who is also Canning assemblywoman MBI Councillors and council’s head of departments.

Also present were KLK’s Administration Director (plantations) Har Wai Ming, Senior Manager (CSR), Janice Toh and Senior Manager Administration (plantation) Melissa Zainal Abidin.

The session focused on discussions and plans to implement CSR programmes to benefit the local community especially in Canning area and the city 

Other points raised were improvement of public infrastructures, community welfare programmes, environmental conservation and sustainable social development.

The mayor in his speech stressed the council’s commitment and continuation of its collaboration with the private sector in developing an inclusive and sustainable city .

He also appreciated the willingness of KLK to jointly organise community programmes successfully for the well being of the residents.

The cooperation is expected to start off with  implementation of several high impact projects soon in line with the agenda of prosperous, clean and sustainable Ipoh City.
