The Ipoh City Council athletes flexed their muscles in the sports sector when they emerged as the champion in the Local Government Authorities Sports Association 2024 competition held in four phases.
The council collected 58 points to go home with cash and trophies.
Second place went to Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Klang Royal City Council took third spot. A total of 70 local authorities nationwide competed in 13 sports events.
Alor Setar, Kedah was the last location to hold the competition, the fourth in the series.
Nine-a-side soccer and netball was held as the finale of the competition.
Ipoh City Council finished third in the soccer tournament and they qualified for the netball quarter finals.
Kedah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor presented the overall champion trophies to council’s Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak who was also the Chef-de Mission, A’zman Mohd Harun the council’s Senior Director (Technical) who was the Deputy Chef de Mission and Senior Director ( Administration and Operation) Abdul Halim Saad.
