The Ipoh City Council in its effort to strengthen integrity values and to eradicate corruption and perform tasks in an honest and transparent manner, held an Anti Bribery Management System Workshop here recently.
It was officiated by Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud.
Also present were ISO 3700:2016 Consultant Puan Hanida Ghazali, senior council officials and Anti Bribery Management System auditors.
The workshop held for the first time is among the various steps initiated by the council to stress its agenda to fight corruption.
Rumaizi in his speech believed the council staff would take the issue of bribery seriously.
Previously the council had implemented several programmes including briefing, ceramah on integrity, consequences of corruption and publication of printed materials.
Among others are the council’s Anti Bribery Plan 2021-2025 which was launched on September 2, 2021.
The council also won a bronze award for integrity and governance, and Anti Bribery 2022 award on January 17, 2023.
The council will continue the directive to declare assets of its employees and also extend to all categories of staff.
It is hoped that the council will stay away from any forms of corruption, as of late there have been many cases of corruption being reported in the media when MACC makes arrests and charges the offenders involving civil servants and private sector employees in court.
