Should there be an award for the best local council in the country, then the Ipoh City Council must be in the top running.
Throughout these difficult times due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they have shown exemplary role to carry out corporate social responsibility projects and other community service to help the hungry and underprivileged.
They have also worked with local corporates in these initiatives.
Take the example of their undertaking to repair the roofs of the Pasir Pinji Wet Market which are 50 years old.
They allocated some RM300,000 to get the work done by September 22.
Ipoh City Mayor, Dato Rumaizi Baharin said that work had started last month and is expected to be completed and put an end to the roof leakage issue.
In another community project, the council distributed some 300 rubbish bins to residents in Buntong.
The project will surely assist in keeping the vicinity clean and is in line with the Ipoh Clean City 2023 project.
