The Ipoh City Council created history as they became the first local council authority to expand its communication network and promotion through radio broadcast internationally.

It came a reality after a MoU was signed between Radiotv Bandaraya Ipoh (RTBI) and Radio Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) 91.6 Fm on January 9.

According to Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud the initiative is one of the strategies to enhance the role of broadcasting of the two stations.

The cooperation is a continuation of the status of  friendly cities since 2009.

Rumaizi signed the MoU on behalf of the council and RTBI while  UMSU was represented by its Rector Professor Dr Agussani M. AP.

Its signing ceremony was held in conjunction with the working visit by the council to Kota Medan, Indonesia.

Also present was Malaysian Consul General in Medan Shahril Nizam Abdul Malek.

Earlier Rumaizi was invited for an interview over Konti Radio UMSU FM 91.6 with UMSU Rector 3, Associate Professor Dr Rudianto S. SOS. M. SI.

It is hoped that the MoU would strengthen the relationship between Ipoh City and Kota Medan.
