Ipoh City Council which had won several awards in the past, added another feather in it’s cap after the council was chosen as the Excellent Local Authority 2022 in the Environmental Health Campaign of the Local Government Development Ministry in conjunction with Dengue Eradication Hotspot Campaign in areas under the jurisdiction of the ministry.
The award was presented by Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming in an event held in conjunction with World Environmental Health Celebrations at the ministry level in Putrajaya on Oct 17.
The council’s Secretary, Ahmad Munir Ishak who represented Ipoh City Mayor received the appreciation certificate and plaque.
Also present was the council’s Director of Health M. Raman.
The council launched the hotspot eradication campaign at RPT Batu 8, Hulu Kinta on July 24 last year.
The area was picked based on the data presented by the Kinta Health office which declared the epidemic under control and later it was reported as a hotspot until the declaration expired on June 15, 2022.
Until June 1, 2022 a total of nine dengue fever cases were recorded in the area.
