A private company has come forward to join forces with the Ipoh City Council to become the strategic partners to beautify the city.
Kudos to Perodua Kiam Fatt Motor Sdn Bhd for coming out with their own budget towards this commendable effort.
Present at a ceremony to forge this partnership was Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin and the management team of the company.
The shining example of Perodua Kiam Fatt Motor should be emulated by more firms from the private sector.
The location selected for the beautification project was formerly a hotspot for illegal dumping despite routine cleaning by the council’s team.
For the records, in 2020, 1,672 illegal dumping hotspots were recorded by the council.
By 2021 most of these hotspots have been eradicated by the city council and only 120 hotspots are left.
The commendable effort is ongoing to achieve a clean and conducive surrounding.
To this regard, the council has implemented various initiatives to carry waste collection for free.
A total of 17 trucks have been deployed for this purpose. This includes the free distribution of rubbish bins to housing areas around the city.
As of May2024 a total of 114,011 units of rubbish bins have been distributed to the various zones.
Subsequently, 1,756 billboards to remind members of the public not to carry out illegal dumping have been put up.
Members of the public and the private sector are also reminded to carry out their civic conscious duties to achieve the goal of keeping the city clean at all times.
