Ipoh City is set to become the first city in Asia to recycle 100 percent of its waste which is an environmentally friendly and revolutionary technology which leaves no pollution.
This system called “thermowaste” is a new concept to give a secondary use to all the waste by recycling and sorting household solid waste in a very efficient, fast and simple way in other words this is a real circular economy.
It is a sterilising and cleaning process where heat, steam and pressure is applied to the waste without having to do sorting as previously.
After 30 minutes of process, the output is ready to be sorted out in four different fractions: biomass, plastics, metals and inserts.
All these basic commodities will then be reintroduced in the market and will have a second life.
A feasibility study will be conducted initially before the project takes off.
A MoU was signed between a thermowaste system developer, Syarikat Mancuso Energy Sdn Bhd and Syarikat Selekta Spectra Sdn Bhd at the Ipoh City Council office on October 17 which was witnessed by Ipoh City Mayor, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud.
Syarikat Mancuso was represented by its director Sidqi Ahmad Said Ahmad while Syarikat Selekta Spectra’s CEO Eliza Lee Chin Thien signed on behalf of the company.
The loji and the system would be built at the Lahat Sanitary Landfill.
Also at the event, two other MoUs were also inked.
Rumaizi representing Ipoh City Council signed a MoU with Syarikat Ultivictory Sdn Bhd to revive sick projects at the Pengkalan Industrial area.
He also inked an MoU with Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) to conduct a study of the history and urban morphology of the early settlement of the Malay community.
