After working in the hospitality industry for more than 30-years, Azizi Abidin decided to go on his own with his food cum coffee truck.
Among the popular hotels in the city he had worked are the Impiana Hotel (formerly Royal Casuarina Hotel) and the Tower Regency Hotel.
“I started from a waiter and rose up to the rank of becoming the Food and Beverage Manager over the years.
“Although it was very satisfying, due to the MCO, the hospitality industry has become stagnant now. I decided to take up my own entrepreneurship and went into business on my own.
“This is how “AZZ Coffee On Wheels” came about. I serve several coffee varieties from Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, Kenya, Ethiopia and also Indonesia from my van.
“I also serve fresh butter croissant, Danish pastry, vanilla roll, apple strudel and many more.
“Due to the lockdown, I can only do delivery on orders from my customers,” said Azizi to Ipoh Hyperlocal.
He had spent almost RM28,000 for the van and various equipment. Among them are coffee making machines, solar panels for power and also microwaves.
“So far, the response has been good and the feedback from the regulars have been encouraging.
“I hope that once the MCO is over, I can station my van in places like the busy Greentown and Meru areas to serve the office crowd.
“At the moment I am getting good orders from Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Tronoh. They also want me to set up a base there in the campus,” added Azizi.
Ipoh Hyperlocal wishes Azizi all the best in his new undertaking as he is a perfect example of the popular saying “In adversity, there is opportunity”.
