The “Ipoh Low Carbon Day” event held  on Aug 27, adopted this year’s National Day celebrations theme “Malaysia Madani, Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan” (Determination in Unity Fulfilling Hope).

It is hoped the theme will inculcate the spirit of unity and nationalism to bring together the rakyat who come from diverse races and cultures.

The highlight of the event was the Perak Breastfeeding Fun Run organised by Malaysian Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Association.

The run covering a distance of between 5km and 10km was flagged off by Perak Housing and Local Government Committee Chairman Sandrea Ng.

Also present was Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud.

Several  activities were held to make the event livelier including jogging, cycling, walking, skateboarding, health screening, clients’ day and testing of children’s mind skills.

The public also acquired knowledge on how to recycle cooking oil demonstrated by Persatuan Gema Perak, sewing, making of souvenirs from discarded items identifying medicine and also exhibitions from Persatuan SELASA, Daybreak Centre and Simpley Handmade Craft.

The event is also a boost to the Visit Ipoh Year 2023.
