A total of 1,700 employees of the Ipoh City Council attended an “Executive Talk” with Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin Md Daud at Pusat Konvensyen here on Feb 27, 2025.
The mayor focussed on three visions this year.
Among them are to gain the status of Ipoh the main Tourist City, Health City with the concept of “White Economy” and intensify “Smart Green City” with Asian standards.
Present were. Councillors Chief Whip Wong Kar Keat, councillors,Council Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak senior officers, heads of departments, officers and staff.
The Mayor in his speech stressed the need for Ipoh have to make an impact on the global stage.
“Apart from attending international forums, the work and task should also be globalised.
“Ipoh have received honours and recognition like UN-Habitat and UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) which is a beginning .
“We have to shine brighter and enhance our status and position through involvement with United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO),” he added.
Through such cooperation the council will have an opportunity to access funding sources, technical expertise and also international network which will speed up sustainable development of the city.
Rumaizi pointed out UNCDF could assist in initiating innovative funding for development projects in the city while UNIDO can support the transformation of the local industries to compete in the global market.
It is hoped the executive talk will be a platform to ensure the success of all plans which had been drawn by the council.
