The Ipoh City Council presented appointment letters to some 240 members of residents committees and 24 Area Officers at the Indera Mulia Stadium here yesterday.
They received the letters from Datuk Bandar Ipoh Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @Md Daud at a ceremony also attended by councillors, senior directors and heads of council’s departments.
The event is also aimed at introducing them to the councillors based on the zones.
In his speech, Rumaizi stressed that committee members drawn from the local community are the representatives who are close to the residents and know the needs of the people in their locations.
“The duty of Area Officers will enable councillors to channel the correct information to the relevant departments and also follow up to the issues raised by the residents.
“This is to initiate swift action when problems are brought to the attention of the council,” he added.
Datuk Rumaizi reminded Area Officers to carry out their duties with dedication as civil servants they need to comply with directives issued by the management.
A briefing on the usage of the council’s MyAduan system was also held for them which will enable them to channel issues in the relevant zones to the council without any problems.
