In planning for the future, Ipoh city is considering Light Rail Transit (LRT) to overcome traffic congestion and better public transportation.
The project will start off around the Ipoh Railway Station and its nearby areas.
Perak State Exco for Housing,Local Government and Tourism Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said that the plan is part of the Ipoh City Local Plan Draft 2035.
The project will later incorporate an area of 60 hectares (148 acres).
The new transport hub is expected to improve the city’s public transport system for both its residents and visitors and at the same time resolve traffic congestion and boost real estate development in the city.
