Good news for holiday makers and those wanting to return to their hometowns by train.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will be introducing its Express trains with effect tomorrow (Aug 1, 2024) to Ipoh and Butterworth.

Thus, the travelling time between Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur will be shortened by 40 minutes with the introduction of the KTM Express. 

The normal travelling time was 2hr 40 minutes and now it will be 2 hours only. (saving of 40 mins)

The Express train will start from KL Sentral and stop only at Kuala Lumpur, Batu Gajah and Ipoh. 

This comes as good news for those travelling from Ipoh to KL on work, leisure or personal matters.

The same applies for the KL Sentral – Butterworth Express train. It will take only 3hr 30 mins for the trip compared to the previous 4 hr 15 minutes.(45 mins time saved)

Starting from KL Sentral, the Express train will only stop in Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Taiping, Bukit Mertajam, Butterworth.

The introduction of the Express trains will surely help boost tourism and those wanting to visit their hometowns.
