Ipoh’s reputation as a tourist destination was boosted once again when the “town that tin built” was listed as among the top three coffee shop towns in Asia by Lonely Planet.
The accolade is well deserved since it is where the coffee chain outlet – Ipoh Old Town Coffee originated.
The article goes on to mention that Lonely Planet worked with coffee-obsessed travel writers and journalists who went on a mission to discover the finest cafes, espresso bars, roasteries and plantations in more than 35 countries around the world.
They specially mentioned the popular Sin Yoon Loong coffee shop along Jalan Bandar Timah in the article.
Actually, there are more hidden “gems” in Ipoh as far as food is concerned. Among the other food attractions are dim sum, chee cheong fun, mee goreng, ice kacang, chendol and more.
Syabas to Ipoh for retaining the old school coffee shops which have become part and parcel of residents there.
