The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Perak Chapter, in collaboration with the Malaysian Association of Hotels Training and Education Centre (MAHTEC) and the Perak State Government through Pusat Aspirasi Anak Perak (PASAK), has officially launched the Hospitality Industry Skills Improvement Course (Kursus Peningkatan Kemahiran Industri Perhotelan).

This structured upskilling initiative is set to empower hotel workers across Perak and elevate the standard of service in the state’s hospitality sector.

A Grand Launch with Strong Industry and Government Support
The launch ceremony, held on April 11, 2025 at Casuarina @ Meru, was officiated by Puan Halizah Sipun, Deputy State Secretary (Development) and Director of the Perak State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN).

The event also saw the attendance of Aldrin Ng, Director of PASAK, along with MAH Perak Chapter chairman Tony Wong and key hospitality players across the state.

“The hospitality industry is a cornerstone of Perak’s services sector,” said Puan Halizah during her officiating speech. “Recognising its importance, the State Government is taking proactive steps by offering tailored training programmes such as upskilling and reskilling for the people of Perak. We hope this program will support the growth of the hotel industry while contributing to the socioeconomic advancement of the state.”

About the Program
This initiative falls under PASAK’s TVET Mahir Kerja programme and supports the Perak Sejahtera 2030 vision of making Perak a national TVET corridor. Each enrolled participant will receive a fully funded MVA (MAHTEC Virtual Academy) license provided by PASAK, granting access to a comprehensive online e-learning platform. Built around the Industrial Skills Framework (IndSF) 2.0, the course ensures that participants are trained with the most relevant and in-demand skills in today’s hospitality landscape.

Participants will undergo training in six key modules:

1. Front Office
2. Housekeeping
3. Hotel & General Management
4. Sales & Marketing
5. Maintenance
6. Revenue Management
