In line with keeping the Ipoh city and its surroundings clean and hygienic, some 480 units of dustbins were distributed to residents in Kampung Baru Tanah Hitam here.
On hand was the Ipoh mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin himself to meet the residents and give out the dustbins.
Each dustbin which has a capacity of 120 liters was distributed free of charge.
“The project is to inculcate the use of dustbins and ensure a clean and safe environment. It will also ensure the pleasing sight of the surroundings.
“We have also scheduled collection timing by the Ipoh City Council,” said Dato Rumaizi.
He also added that they want to educate children from a young age on cleanliness.
To-date some 12,369 units of dustbins have been distributed in areas like Bandar Baru Putra, Desa Pakatan, Bandar Baru Menglembu, Taman Buntong Ria, Taman Bersatu, Simpang Pulai, Taman Kelebang Jaya, Meru dan Manjoi since July 2021.
Another 100,000 units will be distributed in stages for housing areas for the next five years.
Dato Rumaizi also reminded residents to place the dustbins in front of the homes for easy collection and the rubbish packed in plastic bags.
