A non-governmental organisation (NGO) showered appreciation and praise towards the commitment of the Ipoh City Council employees and police who had kept the city clean and free of untoward incidents during the recent Thaipusam festival.

Persatuan Kebajikan,Sosial, Sukan dan Kebudayaan Kinta Chairman P. Uvarajan said:”The dedication and hard work put up by council staff ensured the city and the roads were kept clean at all times.

“They cleaned all garbage and rubbish immediately for everyone to enjoy a clean environment .

“As for police personnel, their invaluable services ensured a safe and harmonious festival,”he added.

Uvarajan said the personnels’ presence and commitment to maintain order allowed devotees to carry out their religious observances with peace and devotion.

“We appreciated the long hours, effort and vigilance that went into managing the crowd and traffic including the chariot procession,”he added.

Thaipusam festival which started from Feb 10 to 12 attracted a large number of devotees, kavadi bearers and those carrying milk pots to Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Jalan  Sungai Pari and Lord Subramaniar Kallumalai Temple in Gunung Cheroh.
