The Ipoh City Council gave due recognition to its retired employees as well as next of kin of staff at a Jasamu Dikenang event on November 23.
A total of 99 pensioners and next of kin received appreciation certificates and souvenirs from Ipoh City Mayor, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud.
Also present were council’s secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak, councillors and head of departments.
Rumaizi in his speech said “I feel it is a big loss to the council once the staff go into retirement.
“We hope you will not distance yourselves from the council but contribute and utilise their experience to enhance the image of the council,” he told the retirees.
They have played a vital role to provide dedicated service to the council and the city to promote the council in and outside the country.
Retirement is a new world in the life of pensioners as they are free of tasks, duties and responsibilities which they have undertaken in the course of their work.
The Mayor noted the contribution of the pensioners will always be remembered and hope the relationship with the council will be maintained.
