The role of the media is not forgotten and for the first time they will be given due recognition by Ipoh City Council during the Council’s Media Night recently.
“It is a recognition of the media for their support to forge closer rapport with the council and the residents.
“The coverage includes promoting positive aspects,” said Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin in his speech at the Ramah Mesra event with Ipoh City Mayor and Media Bureau Chiefs here on Monday.
The event was organised by the council and Puncak Emas Infra Sdn Bhd
There will be eight categories of awards including Best TV Reports, Best TV Special Report, Best News Report, the Best Feature Report, Best Photographer, Best Videographer, Best Journalist and a Special Award.
The analysis will begin from July 1 to 31 on news reports published from 2023 until todate.
In the sessions with media bureau chiefs, he said:”It gives me an opportunity to meet them in person and hope it will be a platform to work together and improve the existing understanding among us.
“I hope more companies will come forward to organise such events for the benefit of the media.
“I hope to meet the media again in sports events, and visits and the highlights of the programmes. The Council Media Night and hope the media friends will join to make the events livelier,” he added.
Rumaizi also presented certificates of appreciation to 10 council’s strategic partners in contributing to the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) especially Program MBI Prihatin.
