A delegation from the Nanning Municipal People’s Government in China led by a Member of the Standing Committee of CPC (Communist Party of China) and Secretary of CPC Nanning Committee, Nong Shengwen visited the city on April 24 to strengthen bilateral ties with the city as well the state.

On hand to welcome them were Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Ms Sandrea Ng Shy Ching who represented the Menteri Besar, Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee Chairman Teh Kok Lim and Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud.

Also present were two assemblywomen Wong May Ing (Pantai Remis), Wong Chai Yi (Simpang Pulai).

Also in the delegation were members of the Standing Committee of CPC Nanning Committee and Vice Mayor of Nanning, Fan Xiaomin, Counsellor of Nanning Municipal People’s Government, Man Baoming.

Ng said the visit is to explore opportunities to work together in various fields including tourism, education, development and conservation of green technology, digital economy, logistics, development of industrial parks and foreign investment in the state and the city. 

The cooperation between the two cities was established in 2005 as friendship cities.

In conjunction with the 50 years of diplomatic relationship between Malaysia and China a soft launch of Trade, Franchise and Licensing, Digital Trade and AI and Expo was also held.

Nanning City had been invited to participate in the Expo which would be held at Indera Mulia Stadium from August 1 to 4.

Some 140 booths are expected to be set up.
