During it’s heydays, the Miners Arm Pub & Grill Room located in the heart of oldtown in Ipoh was the place to be seen and mingle with the professionals and the elite business circle for local folks.
They were popular for their Western menu, fine wines/whisky and soothing live bands.
Among their hot favourite dishes was the oxtail soup served with garlic toast at their outlet then along Jalan Dato Maharaja Lela.
Many will attest to the memorable moments to celebrate company lunch/dinners, anniversaries or even meeting up sessions over a meal at the restaurant.
The history of the diner dates back to the British colonial era where miners, rubber plantation owners, lawyers, bankers and other businessmen used to gather.
Stepping into the place will transport one to the grandeur era.
Over the years, the restaurant has seen it’s fair share of management changes and makeovers in an effort to maintain the restaurant.
As in any business progression, now the new Miners Arms Wine & Whisky Bar is located on the first floor along No. 18, Jalan Tun Sambanthan.
They offer a well stocked bar with range of single malt whisky, gin, vodka, rum tequila, wine range and many more.
They also cater for diners with both local and Western dishes like Mee siam, Nasi Goreng Kampung, Pandan Nasi Lemak, Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik, English Fish & Chips, Pasta, Seafood choices, burger, pizza, poultry and also their signature Paprika Braised Lamb Shank.
The interior deco of the new Miners Arms is filled with portraits from the British era with Queen Elizabeth, Charlie Chaplin and Mona Lisa paintings among others.
They also have a separate section to cater for private functions to accommodate around 150 guests.
While there, meet up with bartender, William, who will be able to keep you company while serving your favourite shots.
