In an effort to  promote and attract visitors to agritourism sites, a portal, Ecodoor.my, the first in the country, was launched here recently.

To-date it has attracted 200 agro-tourism operators to promote their unique destinations and products.

Developed by Perak State Agriculture Corporation (SADC), it aims to promote this sector worldwide as well as support sustainable local agricultural development.

A contest was held to give a name for the portal. The lucky winner was Nurul Husna who also received an agrotourism package as the prize.

Perak State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Loh Sze Yee at the launch of the portal at the  Tourism Perak Office said:”the portal is expected to create awareness among the locals and foreigners towards agrotourism with the hope to boost the growth in this sector.

” The state is expanding the industry in agrotourism to cater for all types of tourism, “he added.

Meanwhile SADC CEO Datuk Yahanis Yahya who was present at the event noted the portal will serve as a portal to promote the products online which would increase the number of visitors and at the same time reach out to a bigger market.

” We are targeting some 50,000 agrotourism packages by year end based on the launch of the Perak Agrotourism Carnival 2023 at Tasik Raban Resort recently.

There was some good news for holidaymakers as since it is the start of school holidays, a 50 percent discount rate would be given for activities such as white water rafting, geopark adventure and horseback riding.
