A new road project to connect Meru to Klebang is underway in a public, private collaboration.
The connection is expected to ease traffic and also conserve travelling time to travel around these destinations. It is expected to be completed in two years.
State Exco for Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Dato Mohd Zolkafly Harun accompanied by Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin were on hand to perform the ground braking ceremony.
They were also briefed on the project to connect the Meru main road to Klebang.
The smart partnership involves the Ipoh City Council and several developers , ie Ain Bina Development Sdn Bhd, Eadepro Development Sdn Bhd, Satin Tiara Sdn Bhd, Scientex Quatari Sdn Bhd and Total Investment Sdn Bhd.
However, the state government will bear a cost of RM4.2 million for land repossession.
In anticipation of projected development in the area such as homes, and shop houses, the new linkage will serve residents and road users well.
The project will also involve building of a bridge measuring 50 metres over Sungai Pari river, four lanes measuring 1.3km, installing LED street lights costing some RM6.6 million.
It is expected that some 1,700 homes and commercial buildings will be built in the next five years in the area.
The state government is expected to generate a revenue of RM350,000 per year from this project.
